The Delegation Office accredited to the AU, as well as to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and UN agencies based in Addis Ababa was inaugurated on February 22, 2019, following the decision taken by the Italian Government to ehnance the relations with the African Union and establish a Delegation accredited exclusive to the African Union.
The Permanent Representative at the AU, Ambassador Maurizio Busanelli, presented his credentials in June, 2024.
